An April Fool!

So here we are winding down another great family weekend, why, you might ask, did I get a family weekend again this week? Simple, different people have different values about family and where it should rank with the rest of the world. I am thrilled at the opportunity to have my kids three weekends in a row, and if it allows others to show their true colors yet again, I am happy to help with that too. I spent Saturday completely on the run. Ky had a soccer game at 10:30, C had a soccer game at Noon, Ky had a hair appointment at 1:00, and I had a tattoo appointment at 3:30. Ky's team is U10 challenge team, which is a step above regular recreational soccer for kids that are at a higher skill level and looking for more competition. The team that they were supposed to play was short players, so they backed out, instead we got to play the U12 challenge team. It was great soccer, we lost on the scoreboard, but played extremely well, and spent the majority of the game on their end of the field. Then on to C's game, he is such a little stud! He is with the same team again this year, and although they still tend to bunch up, anytime there is a play to be made, he seems to be in the right place. C plays at the "Star of the West" complex which has rapid creek running along the west side of the fields. There is a 10 foot fence between the fields and the creek, but getting a ball 10 feet in the air is really no work at all for my daughter. I learned this lesson Saturday when, as I was watching C's game I look over to see Ky and Boo walking down the bike path on the other side of the fence. I got up, ran over to them, and asked what they were doing over there? I knew immediately by Ky's facial expression what had happened. So needless to say, I got to experience the temperature of Rapid Creek on the 1st of April. I got wet, retrieved the ball, and asked my daughter to please try to keep it out of the water from now on. C's game got over, and as we were all talking about where to go for lunch, I noticed that UA, and Ky were nowhere around. I asked if anyone had seen them, and my mom pointed to the same area of bike path, on the opposite side of the fence that I had been earlier. As they got closer, I noticed that UA's pants were a distinctly darker shade of blue from about the knees down. Evidently UA can also kick a soccer ball over a ten foot fence! I really enjoy being at my children's activities and wouldn't trade them for anything. One of the bonus points is getting to interact with other parents and catch up on things. So next, it's off to Ky's hair appointment. She decided to go dark this time instead of light, it looks wonderful, as it would regardless of what she did with it. I must say this was the highlight of my weekend, as we were walking to the car I complimented Ky on how neat her "new" hair in the sunlight. She grabbed me so tight it almost squeezed the air out of me, and said "thank you so much Daddy, I love you so much!" I have an incredible relationship with my kids, but every once in a while I am completely amazed by the love we share; this was one of those moments. We had a little lunch, I left my kids with my my mom, and I was off to the tattoo shop. I have three tattoos that I am getting for sure, the only question was which one to get Saturday. I decided on one, sat for about two hours, and am very happy with the new addition to my art collection(I'll post pictures when its healed). I had a friend show up at the tattoo shop about half an hour before I was finished, so we went and had a beer afterwards. It is nice to find that I am quite capable of new relationships (or old relationships) with new people. I went to my mom's house to pick up my kids, had a nice visit, a bite to eat, and finally home to bed. We got up today, cleaned house, did laundry, and decided to go see a movie. "Ice Age The Meltdown" came out this weekend, so we went to get tickets at about 12:30, I called UA and invited him, he said that he would love to go. This movie is showing on two screens at 1, 1:30, 3:05, and 3:35 and when we got there, the 3:35 show was the earliest one that wasn't sold out. I got our tickets, got back in the car, and we decided that The Olive Garden was the best place to spend the next couple hours. The kids and I had never been there, so it was a nice new experience to share together. I now understand why they are always so busy. The salad, breadsticks, food, drinks, and desert were all incredible. We ate lunch, then went to the theatre about 45 minutes early. I don't ever remember going to a movie this early and having to stand in line to get in, but I also don't know that I have ever gone to a kids movie on opening weekend either. We finally got in after waiting in line for 15 minutes, and ended up with good seats all together. What a cute movie, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had seen the first one, but cute just the same and the kids really liked it. We got out of the movie and my mom called and said that we should get together for supper tonight. My sister is home from Las Vegas with her baby, and wanted to cook at home instead of going out to eat. I thought this was a great idea, and volunteered my kitchen. The kids and I got home, did some more chores, and pretty soon, the rest of my family started showing up. My sister and my mom made a fantastic supper, and it was great to have all of my family in my house. I truly love having people over for any occasion, but I really like entertaining for my family. My sister's daughter is so cute, having her around reminds me of my kids at that age. I made her a bottle tonight and changed a diaper, both of which had incredible effects on me. I checked the temperature of the bottle on my wrist, and the smell of formula brought tears to my eyes. The same thing happened when I smelled the baby wipes. What great memories! I got to see my mom, brother, and sister relate and interact with this beautiful baby as they did with my babies. I also got to see my kids in this light, they are all incredible with that baby. Special, absolutely special. That's what I've got for now, what a wonderful evening to end another wonderful weekend.

Hey Man!
Nice to hear from you! Yes, a little new artwork, I will put some pictures up as soon as it heals, girls are prettier when they aren't scarred and bruised! (although most deserve to be at times) My Ky is a superstar! I often call her Kick which I have for years, but it fits even better now that she plays soccer.

If she wants to lead a life of crime fighting, that will be ok with me, it would seem a waste to spend all those years in medical school and not be a doctor, but whatever she wants to do after school is fine with me!

Thanks for the compliment, I do put my family first and thanks for the advice, one step at a time is the only way I get by.

Thanks for stopping by, and for leaving a comment with a signature! Take care of you and yours.
